Get all the answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding the ICSP registration, application, allocation and swop processes below.  For more help on how to use ICSP Online, consult our user guide.

2. Application

Application rules for Midyear cycle

Please note that there are certain application rules like Special Considerations, Swops, Social Compact, etc, that do not apply in the Asynchronous Mid-Year Cycle mainly because there are fewer posts to accommodate all the rules that are applicable in the Annual Cycle.

The Metro Rule is where you may only select 1 metro in
Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal or the Western
Cape as the system guides you in completing your 5 choices. You may select more than 1 metro in the other provinces. For further clarity, Download the Quick Guide: On Application for posts here on page 11.

It is possible that posts might not be available when the Application phase commences. However, when posts of your particular field of Study become available, ICSP will sent you an e-mail notification to log onto the system and update your already selected choices.

NB: As you amend your choices, make sure you click the UPDATE button for your new choices to be updated.

Applicants are advised to contact the user support team with all relevant documents and we will update for them on the system. They can log a ticket by clicking here.

This can occur if “old” data is still being held on your device.  Clearing your browser cache, where temporary data is held,  should resolve the problem.

What to do on a PC:

  • On the top right hand corner of screen there are 3 vertical dots (⋮). Click it.
  • Select More tools, then Clear browsing data
  • A screen will open. Click on the tick box 1)Cookies and Other data, and 2) Cached images and files. Do not tick Clear browsing history. Click Clear data.
  • Close the page and open again, login and you should see the Application Page.

What to do on an Android device:

  • Open the Chrome browser and tap the Menu button ().If you don’t see this, you may need to pull down on the page.
  • Tap Settings in the menu that appears.On smaller phones, you may have to scroll the menu down to see it.
  • Tap Privacy in the AdvancedThis will open a new menu.
  • Scroll down and tap Clear Browsing Data.This button is at the bottom of the Privacy menu.
  • Ensure that Cache and Cookies, Site data are checked and then tap Clear. This will delete the cache for Google Chrome.

No. Each time you make a selection or fill in a box, your selection is stored as soon as you move to the next.

Yes. You can verify your details on ICSP Online and indicate in the verification process what your estimated start date will be. Note, however, that no post will be held for applicants that indicate that they will start in January, but then delay their assumption of duty.

A foreign applicant must apply for employment through the Foreign Workforce portal. Appointment to positions will only be accepted once the application has been processed in accordance with the Foreign Workforce Policy, which also clarifies the basis on which registration with the relevant Statutory Health Council will be dealt with.  For further enquiries please raise a ticket through the call centre.

For the annual cycle you will be able to amend your choices as long as the system is still open. For the midyear cycle you will NOT be able to amend your choices.

Yes, unless you are restricted to a single facility, sub-district, or district, as happens for some nurses. In that case you will be restricted to a specific geographic area.

No, you cannot apply for more than 3 posts in one province. You must apply to a minimum of 3 provinces, and you cannot apply for more than 2 posts in 1 district.

Yes. The system will only limit you on the maximum amount of Priority 2 and 3 Facilities. You are allowed to select up to one Priority 3, two Priority2, and at least 3 Priority1 facilities.

No. You cannot apply for more than 3 posts in one province. You must apply to a minimum of 3 provinces. Further, you cannot apply for more than 2 posts in 1 district.

Applicants are restricted by selection rules.  You may be attempting to apply for posts in contradiction with these rules. Please refer to the user guide for details of the selection rules for applicants.

There are likely no posts available for your field of study, or you are a bursary holder and restricted to a geographic area.

You will not be disadvantaged by whether you make your application early or late in the process. The allocation algorithm will only be run after the application process closes.

This usually happens in the mid-year cycle. The solution is for the the user support to enquire on your behalf with your relevant province. Applicants are advised to log a ticket by clicking here. or calling our friendly user support team on the following: +27 87 012 5082   

Four or more scenarios are possible and you can be assisted through our friendly User Support Team.

  1. No Current Enrollment ( you could have been Allocated in the previous Cycle and could not start) then you will see a similar picture like below:

2.  Wrong Username or password. If you use the wrong username then you will see the message ” Account recovery – Sorry, we were not able to restore your account. The username might be invalid, your account might not permit restore or you might have entered an invalid email address for your account”.

3.  Your Username linked to your Passport or ID number could not be found please complete the Registration form.

4.  Network Challenges.  We urge you to make sure that your network is working properly. Then you clear the cache and start over again.

4. Bursary Holder
